Falon Alo

Executive Director

Falon received her Masters of Social Work from the Monmouth University School of Social Work with a concentration in International and Community Development. Falon began her career in disaster recovery with the American Red Cross after Hurricane Sandy made landfall in New Jersey in October 2012. Falon and her husband Vincent founded HHDR in an effort to address remaining unmet needs in New Jersey that had been caused by Hurricane Sandy. Falon spent 4 years running HHDR in New Jersey on the Sandy recovery and is now responding to the October 2015 Flood in South Carolina and Hurricane Matthew in Florida. Falon continues to run the operations and manage the various deployments of HHDR across multiple states. Falon and her husband Vinny live in Clermont, FL with their two Bloodhounds Krypto & Knight who are currently in training to become certified in Urban Search and Rescue for HHDR.

Frances Salas

Data Analyst


Before working at Hearts & Hands Disaster Recovery, Frances, worked as an Event Manager in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and a Family Readiness Support Assistant for the Warrior Transition Battalion in Kaiserslautern, Germany. It was when she was working with wounded warriors and their families that she found a professional use for her passion of helping people. Her attention to detail and planning help HHDR to analyze data that can be used to help clients in need and further support the staff with the client’s recovery. Frances also coordinates and plans Welcome Home events for our entire program throughout the state of South Carolina.  Frances, her husband Tim, and their fur-babies, Toby and Emma, enjoy life by traveling when they can and reside in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Doyla Venable

Financial Manager

Prior to working at Hearts & Hands Disaster Recovery, Doyla, worked as Accounting Manager for Blue Ridge Hospice.  She has experience in tax accounting, corporate accounting and public accounting. Doyla holds degrees in Accounting and Business Management. The rewards of her education and experience is to provide HHDR financial direction to make decisions about allocating resources to accomplish important goals.  Doyla, her husband Richard, their rescue terriers; Fancy and Murray, and their cats ;Bob and Louis enjoy life on Lake Murray in Irmo, South Carolina.

Erika Hughes

Program Manager


Erika Hughes is a native from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She moved to South Carolina to pursue her Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of South Carolina. Upon graduation, Erika decided to stay in warm South Carolina and began her career at Hearts & Hands Disaster Recovery, where she could continue her passion to work in disaster relief. In her free time, Erika trains with her companion and four-legged child, Diesel, working towards certifying him in Search and Rescue. When they aren’t training, Erika and Diesel enjoy hiking along different trails in the South Carolina and North Carolina areas.

Valerie Christy

Disaster Case Manager Supervisor


I am a native of Columbia, South Carolina and really enjoy reading self help books, singing and just being creative. I also enjoy spending time with my two children and traveling with my extended family on vacations. I am a big fan of Dallas Cowboys and University of South Carolina sports, especially the Women’s Basketball team. I am a graduate of University of South Carolina with a Bachelor in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Education and a Masters in Human Resource Development. My role in HHDR is Disaster Case Manager Supervisor and, I’ve worked in non-profit for a little over 8 years and realize this is my purpose I believe I am here to encourage, motivate and coach others to be the best they can be and to be self reliant always. Philippians 4:13 I can do All things through Christ, who strengthens me.

Andre Weathers

Program Manager


Prior to working at Hearts & Hands Disaster Recovery, Andre, Worked as A Social Studies Teacher and Coach for several School Districts.  He has over 20 years experience as a Human Resource Manager and is retired from the United States Army.  Andre holds degrees in History, Political Science and Sociology.  Andre, his wife Tasha and Blue’ their Cane Corso reside in Pamplico, South Carolina.

Wayne Odom

Disaster Case Manager Supervisor


Wayne is a Disaster Case Manager Supervisor with HHDR. Wayne holds a BA in Journalism from the University of South Carolina.  Wayne has two daughters, Lauryn (25) and Kelsey (23) and two grandsons, Mason (5) and Ethan (3) and is the youngest of 6 children and grew up on a farm in rural Darlington, South Carolina. Prior to his tenure with HHDR, Wayne worked as an administrator of several large non profit human service organizations in the state for the majority of his professional career.

David Newman

Disaster Case Manager Supervisor


Prior to working at Hearts & Hands Disaster Recovery, David, worked as Program Director for SC
Department of Disability and Special Needs. He has over 20 years experience in the Human
Services field to include foster care, corrections and residential treatment facilities. David holds a
degree in Sociology. David, his wife and 3 children reside in Florence, South Carolina.
